Description
“Long stick training – and the principles of Zhong Xin Dao” – Weekend-Seminar with Instructor Dominique Brizin
The long pole is much more than a weapon—it is a precise tool for making structure, connection, and movement in one’s own body visible and tangible.
In this seminar, the long pole form of Wing Tsun serves as the basis. We learn the choreography—or selected parts of it—not as an end in itself, but as a framework for an in-depth study of mindfulness, forces, and tensions. The weight of the stick and the extended lever arm make it clear how movement arises: Not from force, but from structure, connection, and inner organization. The stick allows us to “look into the body” more precisely and explore how it can be moved effortlessly through clear alignment and functional connection.
Another focus is on Chi Kwan – the “sticky sticks.” Through this unusual form of contact, we explore the point of contact itself:
How is connection created?
How is contact used, maintained, or released?
And how can this be used to develop control, transition, or action?
These principles transfer directly to unarmed combat training – regardless of whether it is about the path from no contact to contact, contact to control, or releasing contact in order to strike. The central principle of Zhong Xin Dao – “center to center” – can be experienced particularly clearly with the stick. The extended lever makes the necessary rotations at the point of contact, the work from the center, and the relationship between the two bodies immediately noticeable and understandable.
This seminar is aimed at practitioners who want to deepen their work with and without weapons—through principles, perception, and conscious movement.
Some long sticks are available, but feel free to bring your own, or if you have more, bring them all.
