Presented by Prof. GM Sam F.S. Chin The Balance Point for Unifying mind and Body
ONLINE WORKSHOP
23 OCT 202 0 4 – 6 PM
OVERVIEW
Please join us in our member’s only session, GM Sam F.S. Chin will lead us in how to be mindful in order to understand the relationship between the mind and the body. This online lecture will include stretching and breathing exercises for health.
The Zhong Xin Dao revolves around GM Sam Chin’s signature curriculum, first-created for developing / Lig Chuan: The Martial Art of Awareness. This pathway to self-cultivation and individual and collective empowerment has been refined for more than 20 years for practitioners deeply committed to embodying and sharing the processes of “learning how to learn” through recognizing how we move, how we think, how we feel: in short, where our “attention” gets placed.
Foundational exercises bring attention to the relationship of the body to the constancy of change: in nature, in our bodies, and in the environments around us. Through step-wise practice and safe, carefully-planned exercises, participants develop mindfulness of mental states and physical conditions and ways to recognize, realize, and know from direct experience.
During ZXD workshops using the Academic Approach students learn for themselves the skills mindfulness provides. They can then apply these skills of attention, understanding how their mind, body, emotions connect-to contexts in daily life, well beyond the classroom.
ZXD Approach teaches:
- Mindfulness Sensitivities (of the 6 senses: eyes, ears, nose, mouth, touch, and mind)
- Emotional intelligence / regulation
- Inner peace /Happiness
- How to collaborate
- How to communicate effectively
- Increased coordination through mindful movement
- Confidence
- Self-reliance
Interactive, engaging, enriching, and teach concepts applicable in daily life. Sessions are tailored to specific teaching-learning contexts to provide an integrative approach for transformational learning.
The students are being exposed to some of the cultural context of Asian martial arts, especially Chinese inner arts, and the long legacy of how such practices relate to self-cultivation spread across the world (a diasporic approach). Participants are introduced to basic qigong, and dynamic meditative practices, as well as to relevant research on across the disciplines.
