Off the top of my head, I'd like to achieve the following things in 2010 (in no particular order):

- become more relaxed
- learn the applications for the Butterfly Form
- attend a minimum of 2 ILC seminars with Sifu
- pass the 5th level student grading
- help some of the younger guys in our group with their gradings
- focus more on the present, without worrying about past or future distractions

So what kind of personal training goals do you have for 2010?

My goals are to: Attend at

My goals are to:

  • Attend at least 1 workshop
  • Finish learning the 21 form and get good enough at it so that I'm happy with it
  • Find a regular training partner I can work with

re:

good luck with your progress toward student level 5 Peter! i'd definitely like to hit student level 6 this year, but it's tough without really having anybody to spin with.

that's a LONG process. Laughing

I would say i'm very comfortable at this point with my 21 but of course i know i still have a long way to go...

a very worthy goal.  I'm looking for the same thing right now.  If only Kelley lived a bit closer... Frown

My training goals? - Attend

My training goals?

  • Attend to 2 workshops and go to Ukraine for the international camp-
  • test for 2 level and start working on the applications of the 21 form-
  • become more aware, so that my past won't have such big influence on my life-
  • encourage people who attend to my group, so that they would share my passion for ILC-
  • and last but not least FIND SOMEONE TO PRACTICE WITH ( I see that this is not only my problem- most of us search for a good partner)

Hope that everyone will find what they're searching for Smile

it's funny how hard this seems to be (outside Russia).  in the US most of the folks who are interested in really training hard only want to do MMA or BJJ. Cry

pass my next grading

I'm working towards passing my 5th level grading.  It's a little tough training for it without a training partner.  I'm getting some benefit out of getting my students started with spinning, but that only helps me in the 1st circle at the moment.

Your Training Goals in 2010?

One of my stated goals for 2010 was to help some of the younger guys in our group with their gradings.

So I'd like to congratulate Lubo, who passed his grading for the 2nd Student Level last night - good work!

I am pleased for Lubo, and also pleased for the progress his grading represents for ILC in Austria. This was our first opportunity to independently train and test a student since our ILC group started in April 2007.

Could be working out for me

So yesterday a guys I work with that knows about mt Tai Chi practice asked me to teach him. I gave him some resources but I'm going to introduce him to ILC and see what he thinks.

Maybe I'm getting lucky and will get my training partner after all...

Ashe,

As far as the form being a long process, I have a talent with forms and can pick them up and understand them pretty quickly. I can be done learning the sequence in a week if I really put my mind to it. From there its just refining it. I'll post a video after I get comfortable with it so you can tell me what you think. Smile

Perhaps I'm late on that, but

Perhaps I'm late on that, but I like the idea of this topic, Peter, so let me write a few points - after the splendid Vienna seminar, which was very special to me and, as far as I know, my trip mates from Poland! Many thanks to our brilliant hosts!! My plans for 2010 have already been partly accomplished Smiling. The next ones are:

  • As Dasha says, so can I say - to grow in awareness!! - the daily work that connects the training to everything else!
  • To continue to see the development of the Polish group - which is a most pleasurable experience with these people
  • To attend as many events more as I am able to (two seminars in Poland, hopefully Riga, maybe Grodno) and connect with the practicioners in these countries
  • To refine what I already know
  • To prepare as much as I can for my next steps - 1st instructor and 4th student level and to help my friends to do their gradings
  • To get myself a punching bag Eye-wink

Your Training Goals in 2010?

Well, now that 2010 is rapidly coming to a close, do you feel you made worthwhile progress towards your training goals for the year?

While I didn't meet all my personal goals (like the grading for the 5th Student level or the applications for the Butterfly Form), our group as a whole made very good progress, with a number of regular new students (male & female), several gradings, the discovery of an excellent location for future seminars with Sifu, and the addition of a second weekly beginner's class.

So I feel the ILC group in Vienna really accomplished a lot this year and is now well-positioned to have an even better year in 2011.

this has been a difficult

this has been a difficult year for me to say the least and i've experienced some acheivements and some set backs as well.

i found not one, but two fantastic training partners here in Phoenix, so that's definitely a victory!  Glenn and Ed both like to train hard and don't mind getting dirty, so we've definitely had lot's of good practice.

on down note, my i suffered a few major defeats this year like having to surrender my mat space and take my program back out to the park. (due to a lack of interest, i just couldn't sustain the rent).

i also didn't get a chance to test for student level 6.  Sifu added the five elements training to the curriculum, so i need to master that for student level 5 before i can move on to 6.  this was quite a disappointment for me.

but at least i know what my goals are for 2011!
