This past weekend (1-3 April 2011) we had our first opportunity to train with Daria Sergeeva at an I Liq Seminar held here in Vienna. In addition to the Vienna ILC group, we had 4 participants come down from the ILC group in Warsaw, as well as a number of highly-experienced Vienna-based martial arts instructors (Jujitsu, Yiquan, Taiji, Shaolin Kung Fu, etc.).
Daria is a bundle of energy, and repeatedly demonstated the importance of movement for self-defense. She led numerous stepping exercises which incorporated constantly cycling dantian energy and opening and closing of the kua, all of which are needed to maintain the proper distance to the opponent, to generate power, to maintain stability, and to be able to make changes quickly. Here's a quick summary: 'Don't stop moving!'.
We went through many basic exercises such as rocking and absorb & project, which were followed by partner exercises to ensure that we had the right 'feeling' for each movement. For each exercise Daria worked her way through the room, giving each participant individual attention in order to help improve their understanding.
She also provided participants with an overview of the ILC grading system, demonstrating exercises such as spinning with steps and mentioning that "you will learn this in the 6th Level of ILC", or doing hip roles while stepping and mentioning that "you will learn this in the 2nd Level of ILC".
I think I can say that with this seminar, Daria has really helped to build the level of enthusiasm for ILC here in Vienna. On behalf of all the participants I would like to say: Большое спасибо Daria - we look forward to training with you again here in Vienna in the future!
Peter
It was a good experience
A lot of details to focus on in training
so I can add one more quote to peter's "Dont stop moving! And be precise!"
The YiQuan Teacher Walter put it in good words when he said(as i can not remember the exact words, but it was like this):"What I like about her is that she has no weight and strength to fudge! As for a lot of people in the internal arts are big and strong their applications work not because of the "internalized" principles and theories but because of power. it may look like it is real, but in fact they are cheating themselves. The application/movements of Daria work on bigger and stronger opponents because she knows. Knows the principles and theories and shows/prove them and that very precise"
(by the way it was nice to finally meet Walter Marek, too)
As for me I can say I have a lot of basics to work on, besides realizing a mistake in my (until then) understanding of the basic of absorb/project I got a better picture of how the basic exercisez work together now.
Thanks to Daria for coming to Vienna, nice to meet and learn from you.
Thanks to Miro for his big effort, dedication and patience, without which this vienna group wouldnt exist (and to the ILQ brothers and sisters of vienna).
Dasha's great fun!
This past weekend (11-12 December 2011) Daria Sergeeva was back in town for her second I Liq Chuan Seminar. The 2nd seminar covered meditation, breathing, stepping and kicking, with a heavy focus on bag work in order to learn the proper timing and angles for safe yet effective kicks. This required explanations of triangle energy, movement in 3-dimensions and an awareness of when to release the tangential force for the kicks. After two days of kicking, most participants were pretty sore, although there were no injuries to my knowledge, due to Daria's insistance on safe training.
We also learned some exercises to get a better understanding of how to establish a safe distance to the opponent .... you need to be able to 'smell their fist' under your nose - not too close, but not too far away, either.
A number of ILC practioners came from Poland and Italy in order to attend this seminar, as well as several participants from Salzburg, Austria.
We will try to incorporate many aspects of the training from the seminar into our regular ILC training in Vienna, as we continue to grow and further develop our abilities as an ILC school.

I don't think that they have. I put short video in my blog in Russian language forum (last one) .May be need to do the copy of blog here, on English web- site.
