please take a look around and report any bugs in this topic.
enjoy!
the default for posts is now 'Full HTML'. WYSIWYG next!
and updated - enjoy!
we're currently having an issue in IE explorer. please use firefox or another browser until we get this sorted out.
i believe it's fixed. let me know if there's any other internet explorer issues.
I can only see the forums when I'm logged out. Once I'm logged in and go to http://members.i-liqchuan.com/forum, I get "No forums defined." When logged out, that address brings up the list of forums. Did you set the permissions wrong on the forums?
i've rebuilt the perms, try again.
let me know.
thanks!
"I can only see the forums when I'm logged out."
I had that problem a few days ago, but as of today (June 8th, 2009), the forums seem to work with my browser, Opera vers. 9.64.
The new site looks good - guess it will take a while to become familiar with the new layout and functions. Thanks Ashe &
Kelley.
Peter
PS: Is there a link somewhere on the new site to the Russian forums?
you can click on the plus sign next to the forums menu item to expand it and you will see the russian link. currently you navigate away from the ilc international site, this week ashe is setting up an iframe to allow you to remain on the international site when viewing the russian forum.
i've turned on ratings for the forum. it's a little widget with 5 dots at the bottom of each post or comment.
enjoy!
I like the look, good work.
how do you send personal messages? because i keep trying to send something but the CAPTCHA thingo stops me from sending even if i type the thingo in the thing lol (im not good with computers as you can see)
whoa.. few days not checking forums and voila..
nice job on the website guys, though i wonder if there was any necessity to move the forum. i was kind of used to have it all in one place
not that it matters much, but .. still
btw, will we have any smilies available here?
RE: reCAPTCHA
i'll turn the captcha off for authenticadted users.
RE: moving the forum
having the forum hosted natively on ILC.com has several important benefits. the first is that all new forum topics count as fresh content, which will improve search engine spidering of the site, which will improve ILC.com ranking.
It will also provide an enhanced user experience since all forum posts will be indexed and will be a part of any site wide searches. for instance, if someone comes to ILC.com and does a search for say "spinning hands" all of our discussion on the forum will show up in the results. That's a lot more content available to new users than previously.
There are also additional benefits to Master Chin, since your forum account is also your account for the entire site, it will make it easier to contact all forum members or ILC students, etc. simply by loggin into his account here on the main website.
Having the forum hosted natively on ILC.com is in fact much more "all in one place" than before. (note:members.i-liqchuan.com will very soon become simply i-liqchuan.com).
we should be able to get some smilies installed shortly.
Hi Kelley,
'let me know if there's any other internet explorer issues.'
When I try to access this site with my Pocket PC (WM 2003SE), it always causes Pocket Internet Explorer to crash. Any idea what could be causing this? The former site worked perfectly with PIE.
Peter
not sure why pie would crash. these sorts of sites generate lots of css and javascript. it could be simply too big for pie. you are running the latest version of your pocket web software?
for what it's worth, i have no problems viewing/using the site on my blackberry.
you need permissions. if you're in the instructor group you should be able to upload.
Maybe I'm not in the instructor group yet.
Maybe that's also why I could't edit the german speaking forum while Peter could.
no you were in the instructor group, but not moderator. i've assigned you now, so maybe try again and let me know if it works for you now.
Now I'm able to edit the forum. Thanks.
But I haven't figured out how to upload new pictures on the homepage. I undestood this new functionality in that way that I could for example upload new pictures from Workshop in Vienna into the section Media / Pictures / Workshops / Austria / Vienna 2009. Is this how it should work like?
let me talk to kelley about how to best do it. we were using ftp to batch upload photos.

we have lot's of functionality by using html. for instance we can embed videos directly in our posts. just grab the embed code and select "full html" under "input format".
we're working on a rich text editor as well
