Dmitry lead a successful 3 days trial children program in NY.
The kids were having fun and were excited in coming back each day. The class run from 2:30pm to 5:30pm for 3 days. In addition to other exercises, what was most impressive was that Dmitry was able to get the kids to calm down and sit in silence for about a minute or two. He introduced a game of concerntration where they had to sit in a circle keeping their eyes at the red bag which was placed the center. He used this 'game' whenever he needed the kids to regroup and calm down.
Feedback was very positive.

This is only a trial. Dima tried to experiment with different exercises with ILC principals that would engage their interest and attention. Although, 3 hours is a long time (esp. for the instructor) but time really did fly by esp. when the kids are having fun and laughing.
I dont quite remember the sequence of the class, and I wasn't there for the entire class either. I'll share what I remember =P
Dima started the first class with the kids just swinging their arms and legs, slapping and kicking as a warmup. Then he moved the swinging to a more practical exercise where the kids partner up and they swing at the padded stick coming their way.
Dima also trianed their awareness by throwing ball in a circle. First it would go in one direction and the kids were allowed to look at the ball. Then the rules changed and the ball could go in reservse direction. After that the kids are required to keep their eyes on the red bag while throwing the ball (it'd go in one direction first then in whichever direction).
There's also the flowing exercise where the kids were taught to move up and down then left and right. After that, the kids would do some 'hard' spinning hands where the upper hand would grab onto the lower hand (with a bit force) and the lower hand will have to spin up to get out of the grab. There's also the pull push exercise.
The kids were also taught how to fall before going into push hands competition. First they fall on their backs, then they fall on their sides. After every few exercises, he gives them like an minute break to run around and do whatever.
After the breaks or whenever he needs them to calm down, Dima would use the red bag game. tell the kids that they're playing a game and asked them to sit in a circle (the kids usually end up laying down). The game is to keep their eyes on the red bag, whoever takes their eyes off the bag looses and will be asked to sit aside from the circle. The kids are asked to remain in silence. When the kids starts to loose patience Dima asked them to pay attention to the details of the bag, and amazingly it works even with the 7 yrs old and it'd drag on for a few more moments. But this game can only be played for like 1-2 mins max each time otherwise they'll lose interest & patience.
The trial ran for 3 days total, by the first day he already had them do the push hands competition. The kids loved that. I was no there during the last day, so I'm not sure what went on. But from what I heard, Dima had them do opening and closing exercise as well.
I'm probably forgeting some exercises, sorry! =P But I'll share with you once I think of it! Hope this helps...
i saw in the video that they were doing "ukemi" (break falls).
i've been having people do them in my fitness classes and felt a bit guilty about it since Sifu never talked about ukemi. lol.
it's one thing i picked up from the taijutsu guys and have felt that learning how to fall properly is a good skill.
the push hands section of the video was great!

i saw all this yesterday! very very cool.
3 hours is a very long time for such small kids. could you go into more detail on the class structure and curriculum and how dima used the game with the red bag?
dasha sent me the curriculum she put together for the kids program in russia, but i still have some questions about it (some of it is a bit unclear in terms of translation from russian to english, and dimas program seems to be different altogether).
my daughter has been training for awhile now but she just trains along with the adults so i don't have the issue of multiple children interacting.
