How do I upload images?

Please watch the video below to see a sample image upload AFTER you have read the following instructions!

I Liq Chuan .com is not recieving nearly enough traffic from search engines like Google or Yahoo!. We can improve this by making sure that we use more key words in our posts as instructors. This means that when you upload some images you need to think a bit more carefully about what you want to say.

List of important key words to use

  • Tai Chi
  • Kung Fu
  • Martial Arts
  • Meditation
  • YOUR REGION
  • any martial arts related (sticky hands, joint locks, throwing, etc.)

Reasons to use key words in your posts

  • increase site traffic which, in turn
  • increase sales of I Liq Chuan products, supporting Master Chin and CFILC
  • improves the chances people interested in classes might find your regional workshop
  • improves the chances people interested in classes might find YOU.

Only upload the most interesting images you have

All the workshop photos tend to look the same after you've seen 1000 or so. Lot's of sweaty people looking tired and doing spinning hands and group photos. Only the backgrounds change. At the end of the day, use your best judgment. Everyone has different tastes and what you find interesting might be just the thing someone wants to see.

Basic guidelines for choosing images

  • images with faces (especially happy ones!) people stare at images of faces longer.
  • action shots (people being pushed out or off balanced, etc.)
  • interesting angles

Using Tags

You can create a "gallery" for all the images associated with a particular event or workshop by using tags. Once you enter a tag for the first time, just start typing it for the next image and the field will auto complete. (see video)

An example might be Riga Spring 2010. Tags are separated by commas, so be careful with how you use them. In the example above, if you write Riga, Spring 2010 you would end up with two seperate tags. "Riga" and "Spring 2010" wich may or may not be what you want. Once you have uploaded all the images in a series, you can just click the tag you entered (above the image) and you will get a view of all those images. Just grab the web address from the address bar in your browser and you have a link that you can post in forums, to facebook, etc. to share all the photos from your event. In the example given above, the address would look like this - http://iliqchuan.com/category/tags/riga-spring-2010

How to upload an image

1. In your user navigation click "Make A Post".

2. Click "Images", remember;

  • Give descriptive titles - use key words when possible!
  • assign a "tag" to your image. (ex. Riga Spring 2010) don't use commas except to separate multiple tags (ex. Riga Spring 2010, workshops)
  • Tell a story in the body - again, use key words whenever possible.

3. Choose your file

4. Click "save"
